Sponsor a Pregnant Woman’s Ante and Post-natal Care Programme

R8150,00

  • Description

Your donation will enable a pregnant woman to attend an Ante and Post-natal Care Programme (called the Healthy Mother Healthy Baby© Programme). The Programme is based on the belief that a healthier baby is the product of a healthier pregnancy and thus encourages healthy habits during pregnancy. During the programme pregnant women are supported to abstain from alcohol use and educated about pregnancy, birth, post-natal care, breastfeeding and caring for a baby through a series of structured intervention sessions with our experienced Project staff throughout their pregnancy as well as after the birth of the baby.

At approximately 9-months of age the baby receives a comprehensive paediatric examination by a Medical Specialist, during which the baby is screened for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) and other health concerns, with necessary referrals made as needed

Important to note: the programme does not only focus on pregnant women who are using alcohol, all pregnant women who are less than 20 weeks pregnant are invited to enrol.
